How to Get Free Crowns (Easiest Methods)

Updated: Mar 29, 2020

As Wizard101 progresses as a game, players are able to see the growing importance of crowns. However, with this importance, comes a price-tag. I've put together this article to help you maximize the number of free crowns you obtain.

Trivia (+ advice on how to do it FAST):

Trivia is by far the easiest way to amount crowns completely for free. KingsIsle allows you to complete 10 trivia games each day, each awarding 10 crowns if one completes it with a passing score. Ultimately, this allows you to get to 100 crowns a day. If you're disciplined, this can result in an immense number of crowns. For example, if one keeps this up for 4-5 weeks, this can result in 3-3.5k crowns.

But how do you choose which types of trivia you do to minimize the amount of time you're spending? Aside from the obvious pick-what-you-know, the best are to go for definition or spelling trivia.

If you use your phone for definition trivia, you can actually highlight the word and if you are using chrome (perhaps Safari, not sure as I own an android), you can search it at the bottom of the screen. Basically, without switching tabs, you can have the definition on the bottom of the page. This makes it super easy and fast.

For spelling trivia, I find it best to use a phone or mobile device on the side. Then, using Siri or Ask Google, you can say the word aloud. The word will be put into text on-screen, thus giving you the correct spelling. Select the answer and move on!

There are a total of 6 spelling and definition trivia. This poses the question as to what to do for the final 4 trivia games (and final 40 crowns). If you haven't chosen a topic that you feel confident already in, here are some really easy ones to do.

Geometry: this one is super-easy as long as you have a basic understanding of different shapes. With a basic understanding, you may not be able to get all of them, but probably enough to earn a passing score. For your reference, here are some things to remember.

  • - 3 sides: Triangle

  • - 4 sides: Square, Rectangle, Rhombus, Trapezoid/Trapezium, or Kite (square has 4 sides of equal length, rectangle has 2 sets of sides with equal length but are not all equal, rhombus looks like a diamond in the trivia, trapezoid has one set of parallel lines and the other two lines look like if they were extended they would make a perfect X, a trapezium is when one set of lines is parallel, one line goes straight down and the other is a diagonal, and a kite is the exact shape one envisions when they think of a kite--- hopefully that is enough for you to differentiate between them all)

  • - 5 sides: Pentagon

  • - 6 sides: Hexagon

  • - 7 sides: Heptagon

  • - 8 sides: Octagon

  • - 9 sides: Nonagon

  • - 10 sides: Decagon

Irregulars:

  • Crescent: looks like a sliver of a moon

  • Curvilinear Triangle (aka Reuleaux Triangle): A triangle except all sides are curved outwards

  • Quatrefoil: looks like a 4-petal flower or four-leaf clover; you'll know it when you see it

If I forgot anything, let me know in the comments.

Solar System Trivia: You should be able to figure out all of the questions by using the method I mentioned previously for the definition trivia. Just highlight the key part of the question (i.e. "second furthest planet from the sun") or even the entire question (this doesn't always give an immediate response, but usually it does). However, if you know the order of the planets, you should be able to get most of the questions. The following is key information to know to be able to complete the trivia without any help

  • (order of planets from closest to the sun to furthest): Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, *technically there is an asteroid belt here*, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune

  • NOTE: Pluto is not a planet, it is classified as a Dwarf Planet

Misc: For the final ones, use the Search technique I mentioned for the definition portion by highlighting the entire question. You can do the following very easily using this strategy: State Nicknames, State Capitals, and World Capitals.

Earn Crowns (Videos)

This is definitely a very easy way to get crowns that requires a lot less effort. You can watch ads, take surveys, or click on ads to earn crowns. Unfortunately, the feature doesn't appear to be working as of March 28th, 2020. In general, however, you can probably get through 3 videos (more or less) before a screen is prompted to tell you that it has run out of earn crowns options. Each video amounts to 10 crowns allowing you to earn 30 crowns on top of your 100 trivia crowns. Personally, I don't actually watch the videos. I typically play Wizard101 while watching Netflix or YouTube since I already know the lore. So I just continue to watch while the ads play.

Although the feature doesn't work at this time, as soon as it does, I will primarily, try and update this page, and secondly, utilize it as it is a super convenient way to earn crowns.

Ensure this feature is activated in your parental controls, though!

Here is the link the access parental controls: wizard101.com/user/kiaccounts/summary/game?context=am

Invite-A-Friend

This last method isn't exactly free and because of this, I won't spend too much time on it. For you it is, however it requires someone to use an special code while registering a NEW account. Then, your accounts are linked. If they make a purchase of at least $6. However, you'll get 2,000 crowns. And the new account will be rewarded with 500.

If you want to use this method, you can go here: wizard101.com/game?context=iaf

Contests

This is my last method and might just be the most rewarding! Fansites for both wizard101 and pirate101 award crowns as contest prizes (along with other premium items) all the time. I even plan on giving some out in the future on our contest page! Find various sites you like and keep checking them out. Sometimes, content creators like streamers and YouTubers give crowns away for free, as in no additional work necessary! KingsIsle also gives out codes for various things on Twitter and during various holidays on their site. In general, just stay active in the entire wiz or pirate community. There are numerous opportunities to earn prizes as long as you keep your eyes open!

Hope you all found this helpful, if you have any question or suggestions on what I should add, be sure to comment them below!
